Esprida Technology Reduces 5000 Tons of CO2
Mississauga, Canada - April 22, 2009 - On Earth Day, Esprida Corporation revealed that its customers prevented over 5,000 tons of greenhouse gasses from being released into the environment over the three last years.
"In today's economic and ecological climate, Esprida's remote device management platform addresses both priorities simultaneously," says Thomas Pappalardo, VP Business Development and Sales at Esprida, "Year over year, we've seen wider adoption of our CO2 reducing remote management features. We're confident that next years' figures will be even higher."
Esprida Enterprise™ enables organizations to remotely connect, control, and transform service kiosks and other self-service devices located in retail outlets, bank branches, government offices and other locations. This greatly reduces the need for service technicians to be dispatched on CO2 emitting trucks.
The volume of CO2 reduction was estimated based on the use of Remote Automation and Content Distribution. Remote Automation allows technicians to remotely diagnose problems, resolve or escalate problems, gather business data, and train staff without travelling onsite. Content Distribution enables companies to remotely upgrade software rather than have technicians drive to each machine to manually install and configure software or mail out CDs – which eventually end up in landfills – to each location.
Esprida's analysis of energy-saving features by customers on four continents over the past three years revealed that CO2 reduction was the highest in North America, followed by Europe, Asia and South America. These figures are based on the estimated number of truck rolls, CD distributions, and service calls prevented through the use of Esprida's remote management technology.
In today's difficult economic climate, cost reduction typically takes priority over the environment, and Esprida simultaneously offers both. Esprida's customers leverage remote management features to reduce their environmental impact by reducing travel, and courier costs.
Looking forward, Esprida anticipates broader adoption of its remote kiosk management application through its new Software as a Service (SaaS) product line, Esprida LiveControl. Pappalardo also said, "Previously, this kind of technology was only accessible to clients with large worldwide deployments. We developed Esprida LiveControl™ as a subscription-based service that provides these benefits to companies and organizations of all sizes."
As we celebrate Earth Day, and worldwide initiatives to save the environment, it's comforting to see progressive companies using green IT software to make a difference in the world.
